"He is expected to be released December 18 or 19," a source close to the family told Radar. "Collin will transition out of the facility, and will finally be home with his dad for good."
As Radar first reported, Jon, 41, won temporary custody of the 14-year-old earlier this month in a Pennsylvania court hearing. Though she was expected to attend the hearing, Kate, 43, was a no-show in the court room.
Jon's close friend Eric Rodriguez told Radar in November that the father of eight was fighting to get his son home in time for Christmas.
"I asked him if he was excited about going to regular school and he said, yeah he's super excited about it," Eric said. "He just said he didn't like his other school that he was in before that facility, the one that Kate had him in."
In 2016, Kate confessed Collin was getting help in a facility. Sources told Radar at the time the boy was suffering from "anger issues" and other problems.
Collin has visited Jon many times at home lately before his official release, and even went Christmas tree shopping with his father and sister Hannah, who also lives with her dad full time following a custody battle.
Bitter exes Jon and Kate's other six children live with their mother.
