Meghan Markle Will Be 'Forced' To Watch Queen's Favorite Soap Opera On Christmas Day
Meghan Markle has caused controversy by recently being branded the diva Duchess, and now, she's learned she must participate in a bizarre royal family tradition.
According to a Sun on Sunday source, Prince Harry's wife will be forced to watch Queen Elizabeth's favorite soap opera, EastEnders, on Christmas Day after being told it is a non-negotiable part of royal festivities. Markle, 37, will join the rest of the royal family at Sandringham to view the festive soap special at 9:15 p.m. on Christmas Day evening.
A family insider told the Sun on Sunday, "The Queen loves EastEnders, and every Christmas, without fail, the telly goes on and the strains of the show’s distinctive theme tune bellow out.
"It is an unlikely family tradition, and non-negotiable - even more so than watching the Queen’s speech! "Obviously a couple of jokes have already been made about switching on the subtitles this year" for Markle, who is American and might not understand the Cockney accents of the cast.
"Meghan’s not too familiar with rhyming slang, so it promises to be a rather bemusing night," the source said.
The former Suits actress is celebrating her first Christmas as an official member of the royal family, after marrying Harry, 34, in May. The Duchess of Sussex has been warned she may need lessons in Cockney to help her understand EastEnders star Danny Dyer, who plays Mick Carter in the long-running BBC1 soap.

It remains to be seen how Markle will take to the odd family television gathering on Christmas. She's delighted that the Queen has invited her mother, Doria Ragland, to Britain for the holidays, but lately, as RadarOnline.com readers know, rumors have flown about Markle's diva ways. In fact, Markle is reportedly living her own soap opera.
Royal biographer Robert Jobson‘s book Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes and Dreams, claimed that before the wedding, Prince Harry raised his voice and yelled, “What Meghan wants, she gets!” Also, there are claims that the Queen warned Harry about "difficult" Markle's attitude after a dispute over what tiara she could wear on her wedding day.
Sources alleged that before she walked down the aisle at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May, Markle requested air fresheners for the ancient venue! She was denied.
Alarm bells also went off after Markle's personal assistant resigned just six months into the job, according to the Daily Mail. Markle allegedly had brought the young woman to tears with her demands.
