Charlie Sheen looks to be #Winning his battle with alcohol dependency, as RadarOnline.com has learned the 53-year-old actor is celebrating one year of sobriety!
The former Two and a Half Men star revealed the news of his milestone over social media on Tuesday, December 11.
“So, THIS happened yesterday,” Sheen wrote on Twitter. “A fabulous moment, in my renewed journey.”
Sheen showed off his brand new one-year medallion, complete with the phrase “To Thine Own Self Be True” wrapped around triangle showcasing the words “unity,” “service” and “recovery.”
“Charlie got the one-year medallion from My 12 Step Store,” store owner RJ Holguin exclusively told RadarOnline.com. “Charlie comes in all the time and we gifted him that specialty medallion."
“He was really excited about this and he should be. Charlie is a huge role model and turned it around.
The new attitude is a welcome change from how he previously felt about rehab, when in 2011 he went on a bizarre rage against Alcoholics Anonymous and their methods.
“I was shackled and oppressed by the cult of AA for 22 years,” Sheen said in 2011. “I finally extracted myself from their troll hole and started living my life the way I want to live it.”
As The National ENQUIRER exclusively reported in 2015, Sheen is living with HIV.
After years of drinking, drugging and wild behavior, the actor appeared to hit rock bottom when RadarOnline.com exclusively revealed he was undergoing a medical detox at the demand of his parents, Martin and Janet Sheen, in April 2017.
“Charlie has not worked in months, and has been on a bender since Christmas,” a source told RadarOnline.com around that time. “His parents were really starting to think that this was the end for him.”
