Hairstylist to the stars, Oribe Canales, passed away from cardiac arrest, his sister exclusively confirmed to RadarOnline.com.
Gracie Cuervo told RadarOnline.com in an interview on Monday that the legendary hairstylist, who previously worked with Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga, was suffering from a brief illness before his passing.
"He was sick for just a few weeks," Cuervo said. "It wasn't like it was anything he had been struggling with for a long time. It was very fast. He ultimately went into cardiac arrest."
Cuervo said Canales was living in Miami full-time, but the hair legend had recently traveled to New York to see "doctors and specialists" due to "complications" of an unidentified illness.
"I know he wasn't feeling well," Cuervo continued. "It was very sudden."
Canales shot to fame in the early 1990s after creating the infamous looks of Marc Jacobs' grunge collection. He also worked with singers Barbra Streisand and Cher.
The hair legend was reportedly 62 years old at the time of his death. As of Monday morning, Canales had received dozens of touching tributes from his loved ones and fellow fashion industry experts.
Makeup artist Mary Greenwall described Canales as a "brilliant hairdresser and simply adored by all."
