Rita Ora faced some serious heat after she lip synced very badly during the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on a freezing and windy day in New York.
Social media users slammed British singer Ora, 27, after they noticed her mouth didn't match the words as she allegedly sang "Let You Love Me" on Thursday.
"Lip sync fail at FULL EFFECT," one fan snarked on Twitter, while another wrote, "Yikes Rita Ora caught lip synching at #MacysParade."
Another critic labelled Ora "lazy" for not actually singing live.
But singer John Legend, who also performed at this year's parade, defended Ora, tweeting, "Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don't have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance. Hope y'all enjoyed it anyway."
Ora gratefully retweeted Legend's comment, writing in response, "Fun fact @johnlegend thank you for clarifying what I was about to also tweet. It's annoying for us but anyway! All my shows are 100 percent live always have been! When you come to a ORA show get ready! Back to holidays! Have a good one guys! :) X."
Still, fans continued to call Ora out, with one pointing out on Twitter, "Kelly Clarkson just sang live," performing her hit "Heat."
After also performing at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, where temperatures were below 20 degrees, Clarkson, 36, wrote about herself and her former The Voice mentee, "Umm, I don't know if y'all know this, but that was live! Brynn Cartelli, thank you—singing in this cold weather with me. It's so cold in New York. I just wanted y'all to know, you probably all thought that sounded so good from Brynn Cartelli, but that was live, as well. So Brynn Cartelli's just rocking those runs this morning. I didn't even give those runs this morning. I was like, nope! Anyway, happy Thanksgiving, y'all! I'm so excited to be here with Brynn!"
A Twitter fan pointed out, "No one else is singing live for the Macy's parade except Kelly Clarkson, actual queen."
As Radar has exclusively reported, beloved and relatable Clarkson is in talks to take over fired Megyn Kelly's Today Show spot and she was definitely front and center at the New York City parade.
A Macy's statement sought to smooth things over for Ora as it said that during NBC's broadcast, "several recording artists experienced technical difficulties that negatively impacted their performance. We apologize and want fans to know these issues were out of the artist's control."
Ora responded, "Thank you and I appreciate the honesty, and I hope everyone still had a great time!"
