Now that Chris Watts has pled guilty to the murders of his pregnant wife and two daughters, his baffled mistress is speaking out.

After the crazed criminal was arrested for his horrific crimes, it was revealed that he and his wife had been having marital troubles — likely because he was having an affair with a female coworker. Now, that woman is coming clean about the killer’s double life.

“He’s a liar,” Nichol Kessinger, 30, told The Denver Post in an interview published this Thursday. “He lied about everything.”

This week was the first time Kessinger revealed her identity and spoke publicly about her affair with Watts, 33. She said that when their romance started, she was under the impression that he was a loving father to Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, and was in the middle of a divorce from Shan’ann, 34.

Despite reports that Watts’ affair with Kessinger may have led to his decision to kill his family, the woman revealed to the publication that she “barely knew him,” and was never introduced to any of his family members.

“We had just met,” Kessinger admitted, revealing that they started a physical relationship in July — one month before the murders — but never spoke of a future together. Regardless, the two saw each other four or five times a week.

Kessinger said that Watts made her believe he was “doing all of the things that a rational man and good father would do” when it came to his wife and children. He allegedly told her they were in the final steps of their divorce and he needed to find a new apartment for himself and his daughters.

While Watts has not spoken publicly about his alleged affair, his parents told reporters that his marriage to Shan'ann was fairly abusive and in no way healthy.

A source close to him also told PEOPLE: “It’s very clear that this wasn’t a healthy marriage for many months before Shan’ann and the girls died. He had checked out, and from what he says, she had checked out, too. Nichol Kessinger showed interest, and in his mind he was single, so it happened. He really regrets that Nichol got pulled into this.”

After Watts’ family went missing, Kessinger said she spoke to him and immediately realized something “seemed off.” Then, when the family’s story was circulated all over the news, if became clear to her that Watts had been lying about his marriage, as his missing wife was pregnant and the two seemed to have a wholesome life together.

“It got to a point that he was telling me so many lies that I eventually told him that I did not want to speak to him again until his family was found,” recalled Kessinger. At that point, she alerted authorities and told them everything she knew. She never doubted he was responsible for their deaths.
