Notorious Mobster Whitey Bulger Found Dead Just Hours After Prison Transfer
Notorious mobster Whitey Bulger was found dead just hours after he was transferred to a West Virginia federal prison, officials confirmed to RadarOnline.com this afternoon.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Justice' Federal Bureau of Prisons told RadarOnline.com that the 89-year-old was discovered "unresponsive" at 8:20 am this morning at the Hazelton Penitentiary in Bruceton Mills.
"Life-saving measures were initiated immediately by responding staff," the spokesperson said. "Mr. Bulger was subsequently pronounced dead by the Preston County Medical Examiner."
"No staff or other inmates were injured, and at no time was the public in danger."
The felon, who was serving a life sentence for killing at least 11 people, had moved to the maximum security facility yesterday from a Florida prison.
A union official for the prison claimed an inmate had been killed overnight, though they didn't identify Bulger as the alleged victim.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the former Boston-based crime boss was finally captured by authorities in 2011, after more than 16 years on the run. Two years later, he was convicted of participating in 11 murders in the 1970's and 80's.
Johnny Depp played the felon in 2015 crime drama Black Mass.
In prison letters obtained by RadarOnline.com earlier this month, Bulger claimed he suffered four heart attacks after prison guards "tortured" him with "sleep deprivation."
