Reality star and real estate agent Mercedes "MJ" David has been hiding a major business secret!
RadarOnline.com can exclusively report that the Shahs of Sunset star was slapped with a restricted real estate license due to a past bank fraud conviction that landed her behind bars.
According to documents uncovered by RadarOnline.com, MJ, 45, was denied a real estate salesperson license in 2003. She was granted a restricted license instead.
The California Department of Real Estate based their decision on the reality star's past conviction of bank fraud, according to shocking documents.
The paperwork claimed the state department believed MJ's crime "is substantially related to the qualifications, functions and duties of a real estate person."
When MJ was 18 years old working as a bank teller, four men convinced her to take part in a fraud scheme, according to the documents. Over a two-week period, MJ confessed to depositing over $100,000 into multiple bank accounts without placing a hold on the deposits. She then withdrew the funds and gave the men the cash.
MJ pleaded guilty and served one month in prison and three years on probation. She also paid $10,000 in restitution, according to the documents.
The reality star discussed the crime on a Shahs of Sunset reunion years ago. Now, RadarOnline.com has learned that the Beverly Hills agent is still operating her practice under a restricted real estate license, according to California's Department of Real Estate. Her license expires in August 2020.
According to documents, MJ took accountability for her crime, even participating in a workshop where she learned how to "better focus and organize her life."
The reality star is currently expecting her first child with husband, Tommy Feight, Us Weekly reported.
The happy news came on the heels of the somber announcement that MJ's father, Shams Javid, passed away in May.
