Rosie's Engaged! O'Donnell Pops Question To Cop Girlfriend After Whirlwind Romance

Rosie O’Donnell is engaged, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.

A family insider confirmed to RadarOnline.com that the former talk show host has proposed to her girlfriend of nearly one year, Elizabeth Rooney.

A source confirmed to RadarOnline.com that O’Donnell, 56, popped the question to the 33-year-old blond beauty over the summer —  but the couple kept the big announcement under wraps due to Rooney’s position as a police officer in Worcester, Mass, said the source.

“Elizabeth is in the police force so she tries to keep a lot of those details on the low,” said the source.

O’Donnell and Rooney went public with their relationship in November 2017 after the outspoken host's ex-wife Michelle Rounds’ shocking suicide.

Despite the 23-year age gap, the family source insisted that O’Donnell and Rooney are “very much in love.”

“They’re very, very happy,” the source told RadarOnline.com. “I do believe that this will see its full life-term expectancy.”

A rep for O'Donnell did not comment on the engagement, but did tell RadarOnline.com: 'I can confirm that they are together."

Rooney, a New England native, has already introduced most of her close family members to the former View host. The insider revealed that the police officer’s engagement to the hot-headed comedian did not come as a shock.

“Liz is a big personality,” said the source. “She always has been. She is incredibly endearing so it’s no surprise at all.”

This would be Rooney’s first marriage, and O’Donnell’s third. As RadarOnline.com readers know, O’Donnell was married to Rounds for three years before the two endured a nasty divorce in 2015.

Rounds was found dead in September 2017 surrounded by pill bottles.

The ex-television host’s first marriage to Kelli Carpenter-O’Donnell also ended in divorce. Kelli ultimately remarried Anne Steele, who O’Donnell notoriously feuded with.
