Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino’s Lawyer: Star ‘Disappointed’ In 8-Month Prison Sentence

Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was ordered to eight months in prison, though he faced five years behind bars for tax evasion charges — but his lawyer is still “disappointed” in the sentence, RadarOnline.com can report.

“We're disappointed. We hoped for probation,” attorney Henry Klingeman told reporters after the court hearing. “But the judge gave her reasons. It's a sad day.”

The reality star’s attorney went on to stress how much he’s changed his life over the past few years. As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 37-year-old celebrated two years of sobriety earlier this year.

“Mike Sorrentino righted his life. That progress has been interrupted,” he said. “But this doesn't set him back.”

Klingeman hopes his client will serve even less than the given time for good behavior, and said they requested he be allowed to turn himself in to prison in 30 to 60 days.

A source previously told RadarOnline.com Sorrentino is getting married to fiancée Lauren Pesce, 33, the first week of November.

The attorney also said he thought the judge threw the book at Sorrentino due to his “celebrity status.”

Earlier in the courtroom, Klingeman stressed his client is a “redemption story.”

“When he committed the offenses, he did so with drugs and a serious addiction. He is clean and sober. He has become an Evangelist," he insisted. "The Long Branch police department called Mike to speak to a high school about the dancers of opiate addiction. He has made a remarkable journey. He is the redemption story we love to see.”

While Sorrentino was sentenced to eight months behind bars, his former manager and brother, Marc, 39, received two years in prison for his part in the tax evasion crimes.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the star’s Jersey Shore costars arrived to the courtroom today to support their pal.
