Health Update: Demi Lovato 'Working Really Hard On Her Sobriety' Says Sister Madison
Demi Lovato's beloved little sister, Madison De La Garza, was one of the first people to rush to the singer's side after her near-fatal overdose. Now, two months after the terrifying incident, the teen is speaking out about her sibling's health and recovery.
On a talk with "Millennial Hollywood with Dakota T. Jones," De La Garza, 16, revealed Lovato, 26, is doing much better after finishing her 60 days in rehab and is putting in effort to solve her issues.
"Demi's doing, she's doing really well. She's working really hard on her sobriety and we're all so incredibly proud of her… It's been crazy for our family. It's been a lot," she said, adding that every time they go through struggles together, they come out "a hundred times stronger."
"We've been so thankful for everything. For the little things," said De La Garza.
RadarOnline.com readers know Lovato's assistant found her unconscious in her bed after a long night of partying with friends. The star is thought to have taken oxycodone laced with fentanyl — a fatal mix.
Speaking of what she hopes to do with Lovato once she's out of rehab, De La Garza said: "I guess I'm really excited to… I mean there's so many little things. It sounds so small, but go to Menchie's… Honestly, I'm more of a Pinkberry person, but she likes Menchie's and so we like we usually go there."
De La Garza is not the only Lovato family member who has spoken of the star's overdose. This September, the girls' mother, Dianna De La Garza, said that she feared Lovato would die at the hospital before doctors could get the drugs out of her system.
Luckily, Lovato is on her way to recovery. This September, she was even spotted grabbing coffee at a local spot near her Utah rehab center. A worker at the shop told RadarOnline.com that she seemed "hopeful" and "in good spirits."
