Demi Lovato's Sister Wishes Her Happy Birthday With Touching Message After Overdose

Happy birthday Demi Lovato!

This Monday, the beloved “Tell Me You Love Me” singer turned 26. While she likely won’t celebrate her big day with a ritzy bash, Lovato’s family members and friends are just happy the beauty is alive and recovering after her horrific overdose.

Lovato’s younger sister, Madison De La Garza, shared a touching message for the star and even broke her silence on her heartbreaking health crisis—one month after the fact.

“Today could have been one of the worst days of my life, but instead i get to spend it thanking God, the incredible doctors, demi's team, and everyone across the world who offered their support - without all of these people i wouldn't have my big sister anymore,” wrote the 16-year-old on Instagram, sharing a throwback photo of her and Lovato as kids.

“I've been thinking about how i wish that everyone could see the silly little things that she does, like how her nostrils move when she says certain words and when she brushes my hair behind my ear when i'm trying to sleep, because those are the things i'm thankful for today,” she continued.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, De La Garza was one of the first people to visit Lovato in her Los Angeles mansion after her assistant called 911 to report a drug overdose.

While it was suspected Lovato had taken heroin the previous night at her friend Dani Vitale's party, reports are now saying the star took a large dose of laced Oxycodone.

“They seem so small, but those little things make up my sister - not a singer, not a celebrity, and definitely not what she's been described as in the media - she's a daughter, a friend, and my big sister... and i am so, so thankful that i can tell her happy birthday. #happybirthdaydemi” concluded the singer’s sister.

RadarOnline.com readers know Lovato is currently receiving treatment for her ongoing addiction issues. Though she spent six years sober, she relapsed earlier this year—and it almost cost her her life.

Thankfully, doctors revived the star, and she is now being taken care of by a team of doctors and close family members.
