'The X-Files' Star Peter Donat Dies At Age 90

Peter Donat, who played David Duchovny's character Agent Fox Mulder's father on The X-Files, has died.
He was 90 and his wife, Maria said the cause was complications of diabetes. Donat passed away on Monday at his home in Point Reyes Station, California.
Donat followed his famous uncle, Goodbye Mr. Chips star Robert Donat, into show business.
Donat has been acting ince 1953 and his other credits included roles on, The F.B.I., The Waltons, Hawaii Five-O, Hill Street Blues and Murder, She Wrote.

Donat also played the doctor who treated J.R. Ewing after he was wounded in the famous "Who Shot J.R.?" cliffhanger of the hit TV show Dallas.
Duchovny told The New York Times about Donat in an email after his death, "He had an easy gravitas as a performer and seemed to come from that generation that took the art seriously but not too seriously."
