CNN founder Ted Turner says he is suffering from Lewy Body Dementia.
The media mogul made his announcement in an interview on 60 Minutes that airs on Sunday.
He tells Ted Koppel that he was was misdiagnosed as being manic depressive in the past .
Turner say Lewy body dementia is like Alzheimer's, but not fatal. Robin Williams was also diagnosed with the same illness.
It leaves him tired and forgetful, he says. In fact during the interview, he can't recall the name of his condition.
Despite his illness he still tunes into CNN.
"I think they're stickin' with politics a little too much," Turner tells Koppel.
"They – they'd do better to have – a more balanced – agenda. But that's, you know, just one person's opinion."
And he revealed that he almost ran for President but that Jane Fonda put him off.
"The closest I came to running for office was when I was married to Jane Fonda," he explained.
"And when I discussed it with her – she was married to one politician,"
"And she said, you know, 'If you run for, for office, you run alone.'"
The media mogul and philanthropist is 79-years-old – his interview airs Sunday.
