Audrey Roloff Recalls Difficult Birth Of Daughter Ember Before Birthday Party
Audrey Roloff has blogged about daughter Ember's difficult birth as she and husband Jeremy prepare to celebrate their little girl's first birthday with family members, including his mom Amy!
The couple shocked fans by quitting Little People, Big World, and RadarOnline.com's sources said that Audrey, 27, wanted to be a social media star instead.
To that end, she's shared all the agony of having Ember, who was born September 10, 2017 — 12 days past due!
Audrey wrote on Saturday, "I cannot believe Ember is already ONE (in a couple days) and I am just now finally getting around to sharing her birth story. WOW! It has taken me an entire year to finish it."
She revealed on her blog, "Jeremy and I wanted our labor and delivery experience to be a calm, low stress, and intimate experience between the two of us. That meant no family, friends, or cameras in the delivery room.
"We wanted to bring our daughter into the world together without having to think or worry about anything or anyone else. Just Jeremy and I, intimately experiencing the most defining moment of our lives together."
Even at ten days past her due date, Audrey wrote, she was trying to hold out because she wanted a natural birth and she did not want to be induced.
But on Sept. 9, she started to lose her mucus plug, a sign she was going into labor.
At 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 10, Audrey woke up with contractions and at around 4 a.m., she and Jeremy went to the hospital.
Audrey blogged to her fans that she was allowed to labor in a tub with water in it at the hospital.
At one point during the labor, she wrote that she "threw up profusely for an hour or so. I just basically ejected everything I had consumed the day before."
At 7 a.m., Audrey was transferred back to the delivery room and the pain from her contractions got so unbearable that she was unable to speak.
She wrote, "I remember desperately longing for a break and hoping that I was nearing the end because I wasn't sure I could go on at this intensity much longer….Jeremy later told me that it was at this point that I looked like I was trying to crawl out of my body."
Her midwife told her to start pushing, and after a few minutes of pushing Audrey realized that her water never broke. Her midwife broke her water, and immediately after, Audrey was able to start pushing. After pushing for about 45 minutes, little Ember was born.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Audrey had to be hospitalized after Ember's birth.
That drama was shown on a LPBW episode, with Audrey explaining to the TLC cameras, "I got mastitis five days after she was born. Mastitis is when the breast tissue is infected. I wouldn't say that I got to enjoy being a mom those first few weeks. I was in lots of pain. There was swelling and inflammation. And then I also had issues with just like blistering and bruising. It was just not good."
While Audrey posted her birth blog, her mother-in-law Amy took to Instagram to say she was shopping for flowers for Ember's birthday party. In fact, Amy showed a whole red wagon full of them in her photo!
Despite Audrey's birth agony, Ember wound up a happy and healthy child. She was recently a flower girl for a wedding of a friend of Audrey's.
