Tom Cruise Desperate To Take Suri Back — But Livid Katie Holmes Vows To Fight!
After urning his back on her for five heartbreaking years, Tom Cruise is allegedly scrambling to be reunited with his precious daughter Suri, RadarOnline.com learned exclusively.
The movie megastar has not been spotted publicly with the adorable 12-year-old since September 2013 — a year after ex-wife Katie Holmes blindsided him with divorce papers.
Now with cute-as-a-button Suri longing for her daddy, the “Top Gun” star is set to swoop back into her life — but mama bear Katie may not be on board, sources said.
“The word is that Tom is making an effort to be a part of Suri’s life again,” snitched an insider.
“He’s been planning this for a long time — surprising Suri with gifts and sending her concert tickets and clothes.
“Tom knows that he hasn’t been around a lot. He’s hoping all this will win Suri over — and it seems to be working.”
When Suri was a tot, Tom was a doting, hands-on dad — cuddling her close in public and even posing with her for magazine covers. The actor even made sure Suri was front and center when her parents tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony in Rome in November 2006.
But Tom’s Mr. Mom act changed dramatically after he and Katie split.
Although insiders said the couple’s custody agreement allows Tom to see Suri for ten days each month, heallegedly neglected to use the time, and basically turned his back on her.
But now the 56-year-old star intends to make up for his absence ASAP!
“Even though Tom and Suri have been apart for a long time, he’s always cared about her,” the insider dished.
“And after such a great reaction to his latest ‘Mission: Impossible’ film, Tom is ready to get back into the spotlight — and also be a dad to Suri.
“He’s realized that he’s already missed out on so much with Suri and wants to start using that time. It’s his right, and he doesn’t see how Katie can try to stop him.”
But that’s exactly what the stunned “Dawson’s Creek” beauty hopes to do, insiders said. In fact, it’s no surprise that Katie was recently spotted having a meltdown in New York City — as the 39-year-old actress could be facing an unexpected court battle with her ex!
“If Tom has already been granted that access to Suri, Katie is going to have a hard time blocking him from seeing her. The courts won’t want to keep Suri from her dad without an extremely good reason,” explained the insider.
“But that doesn’t mean Katie isn’t going to try. She’s fought Tom before and people think she’ll use every legal tool at her disposal to keep Suri away from him.”
Katie’s greatest advantage is her father, Martin, a highly regarded divorce attorney who helped stage-manage her split from Tom. Many insiders believe the “Batman Begins” cutie fled Tom — and their marriage — out of fear that Suri would be forced into joining Tom’s sci-fi religion, Scientology.
As a result, Suri, who had instruction in church teachings, may now be considered a “suppressive person” in the eyes of the church, which means Tom can’t associate with her.
“It’s tough for Katie because she won’t want to stop Suri from getting to know her dad altogether,” said the source.
“But Suri is at an impressionable age and if Tom becomes a major part of her life, Katie would probably be worried that he’d try and lure her into joining Scientology.
“If Katie suspects that’s the case, she’ll do everything she can to stop it from happening.”
Tom remains close to his adopted children with ex Nicole Kidman — Isabella, 25, and Connor, 23 — who are both Scientologists.
The insider added: “Suri is the most important thing in Katie’s life and she’s extremely protective of her daughter. Katie’s not going to back down without a fight.
“But Tom is a powerful man with a lot of money and an entire religion behind him. This could get very ugly, very fast!"
