Lisa Marie Is ‘Proud’ Of Recovery After Years Of Drug Addiction: ‘I Was Not Happy’
Lisa Marie Presley is finally being candid about her addiction struggles. In a shocking interview with NBC’s TODAY show, the singer spoke about her road to recovery, as well as of how much she wishes her father, Elvis Presley, was with her today.
“I’ve come a long way, I was not happy,” admitted Lisa Marie, 50, adding that her issues with drugs started when she was 45 years old.
“I am proud” the mom-of-four told Jenna Bush Hager of her recovery.
Lisa Marie added that even her therapist believes she’s a miracle, and doesn’t know how she’s still alive.
“I’m not perfect, my father wasn’t perfect, no one’s perfect. It’s what you do with it after you learn—and then you try to help others with it,” she said.
RadarOnline.com previously reported that the star’s friends were very concerned about her wellbeing, just last year, after she went on a drug-fueled downward spiral. They even though she’d end up dying of an overdose, just like Elvis.
In her interview, Lisa Marie also spoke of her new album, Elvis Presley: Where No One Stands Alone, saying that she believes her father would be “incredibly proud” of the record and of their duet.

“I was overwhelmed when I was singing it,” she said, adding that she broke down in tears while doing the duet.

Despite the fact that she’s come a long way after years of struggling with addiction and of living without her father, Lisa Marie said that if she would say anything to Elvis today it would be: “Help me!”
