‘Golden State Killer’ Will Have One Trial For 13 Murder & 18 Rape Charges

Golden State Killer Joseph James DeAngelo will have one trial for the 13 murders and 18 rapes he’s been charged with, prosecutors announced on Tuesday and said an additional 13 kidnapping charges have been added to the case.

A complaint obtained by RadarOnline.com was filed in Sacramento, Calif. where the six district attorneys agreed to hold the trial of DeAngelo for crimes that took place between 1975 and 1986.

Gregory D. Totten, the Ventura County District Attorney, explained there was cooperation between the districts in the state to prosecute the 72-year-old suspected murderer and rapist.

Totten said the complaint alleges “13 felony counts of murder,” and “18 rapes and burglary with special circumstances, including uses of firearms.”

The Golden State Killer was charged with an “Additional 13 felony count of kidnapping for purposes of robbery and 21 special allegations of the use of a weapon in connection with those offenses,” Totten said in the August 21, 2018 press conference.

“He faces a minimum sentence of life in state prison without the possibility of parole.

DeAngelo is expected to appear in Sacramento County for arraignment on Thursday, August 23rd at 1:30 p.m. in Department 61,” the court said in a press release.

“This human predator took a path through all of these counties in our state and where ever he went he left a wake of terror in his path,” Orange County Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas said during the press conference.

“He committed vicious, violent crimes in all of these jurisdictions.”

“We are unified, and we are committed to delivering justice to the victims of the Golden State Killer and their loved ones who for far too long have had justice allude them,” Rackauckas said.

Contra Costa DA Diana Becton, Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert, Santa Barbara DA Joyce Dudley, Tulare DA Tim Ward joined Totten and Rackauckas at the press conference and all signed the complaint obtained by RadarOnline.com.

The Golden State Killer was arrested on April 24, 2018 after DNA linked him to a series of rapes and murders from the 1970s and ‘80s.
