Abandoned & In Agony: Inside Aaron Hernandez’s Living Hell Before Suicide

Aaron Hernandez’s life in prison was riddled with agony and abandonment before he committed suicide, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The fallen football hero’s attorney, Jose Baez, shared explosive details about the living hell Hernandez suffered while he was accused of three murders. In his book, Unnecessary Roughness: Inside the Trial and Final Days of Aaron Hernandez, Baez revealed the NFL player suffered physical and mental torment behind bars.

“Aaron would often describe how he’d sit down on his bunk and rub his temples,” Baez claimed. “His friends knew of his frequent migraines that began with a dull ache in his head. They had become more frequent as of late.”

Baez said the migraines Hernandez experienced were accompanied by “hot flashes.” The famed attorney, notably known for representing Casey Anthony in the murder trial for her daughter’s death, added that Hernandez also exhibited memory loss.

“I noticed Aaron sometime had an amazing memory and sometimes a horrible one. He couldn’t even give me the name of some of his lawyers. Or of people who handled his money,” said the lawyer.

Baez claimed in the book that Hernandez’s lack of memory was a direct result of the brain disease known as CTE, which researchers discovered he had after his death.

The late athlete, however, was also pained mentally. The athlete’s legal confidante claimed that Hernandez would display erratic behavior behind bars.

“He was known to experience periods of extreme frustration when he would kick and pound the door to his cell,” wrote the lawyer. “He also sat quietly by himself long periods.”

Hernandez not only questioned the motives of the police and prosecutors, but was tortured with thoughts that his own mother was colluding with the authorities.

“He knew she must have cooperated with authorities, and deep down he wasn’t proud of that,” Baez explained.

Hernandez’s mother, Terri, allegedly refused to come to court despite Baez’s team’s several requests. During his final months, he had been abandoned by his family.

“My office called her several times asking her to come down to see Aaron,” Baez continued. “She would call our office and leave messages with concerns about security at the courthouse and what the media would say about her attendance and how the media would portray her.”

The lawyer claimed that the “only” thing that caused Hernandez to smile was a picture he kept in his cell of his daughter, Avielle.

Hernandez's widow and baby mama, Shayanna Jenkins, gave birth in June to a second child with her new fiancé , Dino Guilmette.
