Musician Richard Swift, who performed with the Shins and the Black Keys, has died after a battle with a "serious medical condition."
Swift, who played bass for the band back in 2014, was 41. Bandmate Dan Auerbach confirmed the passing on Instagram.
"Today the world lost one of the most talented musicians I know," Auerbach posted. "He's now with his Mom and Sister. I will miss you my friend."
Just last month, a GoFundMe page was set up to raise money for Swift's medical bills. Although the exact medical condition was never revealed, the organizers of the page were trying to raise $100,000 for care.

"Richard needs your love and support now as he is up against some tough odds," the appeal states. "He is uninsured and the cost of the care he is getting is a lot. If you can afford to share the weight of this burden, it would be most deeply appreciated. Anything helps."
Swift also collaborated with and produced music for Guster, Ray LaMontagne, and other artists.
