As RadarOnline.com was the first to report, the newest addition to The Real Housewives of Orange County, Gina Kirschenheiter filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Matthew, on April 2, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.
Now, just days before season 13 premieres, a source close to the soon-to-be divorced parents of Nicholas, 5, Sienna, 4, and Luca, 2, told RadarOnline.com exclusively that “Gina and Matt are struggling to co-parent right now.”
“They are both incredible parents and they love their children very much. It’s just a very hard thing to go through, especially in front of television cameras,” a friend of the 34-year-old blonde beauty said.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Gina revealed that it was filming the hit Bravo series, as well as Matthew’s very busy work schedule, that led to their demise.
“Although they were having issues way before she was cast on RHOC, Matthew was still quick to blame the show for their divorce. He thinks that she chose fame over him,” the source told RadarOnline.com.

However, judging by Gina’s Instagram account, which includes recent photos of her and Matt’s family outings to the beach and the zoo, they seem to have adapted co-parenting just fine.
“They try not to fight in front of the kids and they both just want things to seem as normal as possible to them. But the kids know that something isn’t right,” the insider added.
In the divorce, Gina asked for sole physical custody of the children with shared legal custody, and Matthew being granted visitation.
In addition, Gina requested the judge award her “domestic partner support,” and asked that the judge “terminate” her husband’s spousal support.
