Jailhouse Interview: Josh Waring Plans To Prove His Innocence With Polygraph Test
RadarOnline.com can reveal exclusively Josh Waring, the son of former The Real Housewives of Orange County star Lauri Peterson, is prepared to put his truth to the test — literally – by taking a polygraph to prove his innocence when it comes to the attempted murder charges he's facing.
The troubled drifter told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive jailhouse interview that his reality star mom, who's been a constant fixture in court, is the force behind the legal maneuver.
"My next step is a polygraph," Waring told RadarOnline.com from jail in Orange County, Calif. "My mom is helping me file a motion."
"They my family inadvertently became my defense camp. I know I am innocent. I look forward to my day in court. And I'm hoping the judge kicks this case out."
As RadarOnline.com reported, Waring also came under fire while behind bars for allegedly slashing two inmates with a modified razor in August and December of last year.
The 28-year-old was also busted in his cell with porn, prescription drugs, and "pruno," aka jail wine.
But Waring insists he's sober now. And as for the violence, he's the victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"For the first year I was using drugs here. I've been clean for 10 months," he confessed.
"The alleged fight was on camera and it didn't happen.
Three people got written up for it. They gave write-ups to everyone. They reviewed everyone.
"The sheriffs declared I didn't slash anyone, but it happened close to my cell. When they looked at footage I wasn't the one."
Waring admits he was cited for creating a disturbance and got a punishment of 10 days without commissary privileges.
As previously reported by RadarOnline.com, Peterson's son has been in jail since June 20, 2016, and is accused of attempting to kill Daniel Lopez, 35, who was shot outside a sober living home in Costa Mesa. According to prosecutors, Waring got into a confrontation earlier that day with one of the residents. He then returned to the home and allegedly opened fire on the residents and shot Lopez, who survived his serious injuries.
In court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Waring's attorney Joel Garson alleged the true shooter was Waring's former friend, Brian Goldstein, who fired the shots from a blue car. Garson said Waring was in a white vehicle when he returned to the Costa Mesa home.
"Brian Goldstein did the shooting," Waring told RadarOnline.com. "I saw it. I never wanted to say it because I am not a snitch."
Witness Ronnie Dufault, however, told police he saw Waring fire the shots.
Waring believes the prosecutors and authorities have ulterior motives in pointing the finger of guilt at him.
"They are trying to prejudice the jury pool to make me look bad because they know I am fighting back and their case is bogus.
"You don't know how hard it is to sit in here and try to keep yourself from going insane.
"I'm trying to not go crazy about it, when you know you're innocent.
"If I did something, I'm going to say it. I never shot anybody."
The final day of testimony is July 26.
"I could be going home next month, and, if not, we will appeal. And if we lose that, then we go to trial in September," continued Waring.
Until the final decision, he says he's trying to keep a positive attitude.
"Things are good," he added. "Right now, I feel like I'm doing well."
