Katharine McPhee Whines About Spotlight On Her Engagement To David Foster

Katharine McPhee appears to be in a fever over how the public has reacted to news of her engagement to much older David Foster!

She now wishes followers would get a life—and has ordered them to focus on politics instead!

The former American Idol star and current Scorpion actress, 34, and composer Foster, 68, who has been married four times before, stunned America by getting engaged this week.

The May/December twosome confirmed their engagement news on Tuesday, July 3, as RadarOnline.com reported.

Idol runner up McPhee, who was mentored on the reality show by Foster way back in 2006, is now marrying him despite a more than 30-year age difference!

McPhee, an actress as well as a singer, posted a photo on Instagram showing her engagement ring sparkling in the sun.

She and Foster got engaged while on a romantic trip in Capri, Italy, and McPhee shared on Instagram about her man's romantic proposal, "He did it at the top of this mountain in Anacapri. Totally dark, only stars."

But now, McPhee appears disturbed by the attention on their age difference and Foster's many previous marriages, including his last one to former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid Foster.

McPhee fired off a Friday night tweet, writing, "Y'all should be worrying more about registering to vote and midterm elections than who's marrying me."

The ex-Smash star added, "Thank you for coming to my TED talk."

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks of 18 minutes or less. McPhee seems to want to be taken seriously!

But her surprise decision to marry Foster caught fans off guard.

His daughters approve of the match although they joked about it on social media.

Foster's girl Erin, who at age 35 is just a year older than McPhee, commented, "Mommmyyy" along with three red heart emojis.

McPhee, who divorced her first husband, actor Nik Cokas, has previously explained of her relationship with Foster, "We're very close friends, and we've been friends for a long time. I'm really, really fond of him, and I think he's an incredible person. I've known him since I was 21-years-old, you know? He produced my first single. So he's been really good to me. People can say whatever they want."
