In her new explosive tell-all book, Gretchen Bonaduce: Surviving Agent Orange, Gretchen Bonaduce has detailed the horrifying treatment she allegedly suffered at the hands of her her then-husband, Danny Bonaduce, while he was in the desperate thrall of drugs.
The book takes readers behind the scenes of Gretchen’s nearly 18-year-long marriage to the 58-year-old Partridge Family star. Gretchen said she realized early on in their marriage, which officially ended a decade ago, how Danny would turn into a “mental case” when he combined drugs and alcohol — leading Gretchen to take all of his spending money and only give him enough to pay a valet for parking.
In one especially disturbing incident, Gretchen, 52, claimed Danny started an argument for the sole purpose of storming out of the house to get drugs. In an attempt to stop her husband, Gretchen allegedly laid down behind his car!
“Get out of my way, you crazy b***h!” Gretchen said Danny screamed as he backed the car towards her body. “You’d better move your a** right now!”
But for the next few minutes, Gretchen didn’t budge. She claimed she stayed behind the car as Danny screamed obscenities at her, threatening again and again to run her over if she didn’t move.
Danny eventually gave up, threw the car in park and went inside, she said.
Gretchen recalled, “I had figured out the line in the sand that Danny would not cross to get drugs: murder.”
That, however, was seemingly the only line. For the next 17 years, she claimed Danny was constantly relapsing, discovering new drugs, and taking new lovers. He even allegedly moved his girlfriend in down the street!
“So this is my wife, and my girlfriend lives just down the street from us, and all I want to do is f**k her,” Danny once reportedly said of his mistress, in front of his wife and her friend.
Despite the turmoil, Gretchen hoped that readers can find their own strength from her experiences. “So I guess my point is that I got out,” Gretchen wrote. “And that you can, too, if you need to.”
A rep for the actor told RadarOnline.com, "Danny says some of that rings true, but he's eight years sober, married to the right person, and living his best life."
After splitting from Gretchen, Danny married wife Amy in 2010.
Gretchen Bonaduce: Surviving Agent Orange will be released on August 14.
