"They new script seems to be all over the place, and they fear that the audience will drop off after the first few episodes because it is just not as funny without Roseanne," a source close to production said.

In addition, no one seems to be sure who exactly is the new star of the show in Barr's absence!

"They just overcame the hurdle of how to kill of Roseanne's character, and now they are desperately trying to decide who the new comic relief will be. Roseanne was the glue that held the show together," the insider added.

As was the first to report the day after the show was canceled, Gilbert, Goodman and other cast and crew members held an emergency meeting to save the show in May.

When Sharon Osbourne congratulated Gilbert on Monday's The Talk, Gilbert said, "I'm so excited. Thank you all so much. I really appreciate it."
