NXIVM sex cult leader Keith Raniere is accused of trafficking over 50 female slaves, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

In a shocking court filing on Friday, June 8, prosecutors asked the judge to refuse Raniere’s request to post bail and get out of prison. They used the number of alleged slaves he trafficked as a means to prove he is a threat to society.

“The defendant is currently charged by indictment with sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit forced labor in a scheme involving over fifty female slaves that he directed others to recruit on his behalf,” the document states.

The serious crimes could land Raniere in prison for a minimum of 15 years, up to a maximum life sentence.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Raniere’s attorneys filed a motion last week to request that the NXIVM leader get out of prison on a $10 million bail.

The government, however, is doing all it can to keep Raniere behind bars.

“The government seeks a permanent order of detention because there is no combination of conditions that would adequately protect the safety of the community,” the document states.

Meanwhile, Raniere’s co-defendant in the case, Allison Mack, was released on a $5 million bond in April. Mack is accused of helping Raniere recruit alleged slaves for NXIVM’s inner sex ring titled DOS.

The judge has yet to rule on whether or not he will grant Raniere bail.

Both Raniere and Mack are scheduled to appear in federal court on Tuesday, June 12.
