John McCain is nearing the end of his life after a battle with aggressive brain cancer, the Arizona Senator admits in his shocking new tell-all.

In a copy of memoir The Restless Wave obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, McCain writes, "this is my last term. If I hadn't admitted that to myself before this summer, a stage 4 cancer diagnosis acts as ungentle persuasion."

"I don't know how much longer I'll be here," McCain, 81, adds in the book, out May 22. "Maybe I'll have another five years. Maybe, with the advances in oncology, they'll find new treatments for my cancer that will extend my life. Maybe I'll be gone before you read this. My predicament, is well, rather unpredictable."

The former Vietnam vet went on to reveal his biggest regret — not spending as much time with his family throughout his life.

"I leave behind a loving wife, who is devoted to protecting the world's most vulnerable, and seven great kids, who grew up to be fine men and women," he writes. "I wish I had spent more time in their company. But I know they will go on to make their time count, and be of useful service to their beliefs, and to their fellow human beings."

"Their love for me and mine for them is the last strength I have."

McCain recently revealed another regret. He said he wishes he never chose Sarah Palin as VP during the 2008 presidential race, which he ultimately lost to Barack Obama.

On July 14, 2017, McCain underwent surgery to remove a blood clot above his left eye.

Five days later, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive brain cancer.
