Middle Ear Condition Threatens To Silence Celine Dion
All by herself. That’s how pals say Céline Dion felt ringing in her 50th birthday on March 30, RadarOnline.com has learned, after the Canadian songbird was forced to cancel multiple performances of her hit Las Vegas show to undergo a delicate surgical procedure to save her voice.
As she readies for the risky operation, friends and medical experts fear Dion won’t be hitting those high notes when it’s all said and done!
“My luck hasn’t been very good lately,” Dion wrote to fans on March 21, announcing that she wouldn’t return to the Colosseum until May 22 to deal with a condition in her middle ear called Patulous Eustachian tube, which causes hearing irregularities and makes singing difficult.
“I just can’t believe it!” she cried. “I know how disappointing this is, and I’m so sorry.”
The songstress has dealt with this issue for more than a year, but doctors were able to treat it with eardrop medications — until now.

“Céline is scared,” a source tells Radar. “She’s trying to downplay it, but she’s been fighting this ailment for 18 months. The last thing she wants to go through now is potentially dangerous surgery.”
And doctors affirm that the “Beauty and the Beast” singer has every right to be nervous!
“This is a terribly serious condition for a singer,” Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who has not treated Dion, tells Radar. “This surgery is critical because there is an incredibly high failure rate.”
Adds a friend of the chart-topper: “Everyone is praying for her. This could be a career ender.”
