Cardi B is being sued by an ex-manager who claims he was fired after helping the rapper achieve success!
As RadarOnline.com has learned, Klenord “Shaft” Raphael and his KSR Group and Worldstar Management companies have asked the star for $10 million, after she allegedly broke her agreement with them to sign a deal with Quality Control management last month. The manager is also suing her for defamation and breach of contract, according to court documents obtained by The Blast.
In his suit, Shaft claimed he turned the former Love & Hip Hop star “from exotic dancer and social media presence to music icon.” He also said that since 2015, he “conceived, arranged and orchestrated Cardi B’s rise to become the biggest music sensation on the planet.”
The manager added in his papers that he discovered Cardi B’s talent and took her “from the strip club to the recording studio.” He claimed it was his help and vision what caused “her rapid rise as a recording artist and performer.”
In his lawsuit, Shaft also bashed the singer’s baby daddy and fiancé, Offset, saying the he steered her into QC’s direction after Cardi B, 25, claimed the disgraced manager was “robbing” her.
As RadarOnline.com readers know, Cardi B — who is expecting her first child by Offset — recently announced she’d be cancelling various summer shows to focus on her pregnancy.
Shaft alleged that his relationship with the beloved rapper began to dissolve in 2017 after her stylist and husband-to-be convinced her he was taking advantage of her fame and money.
“She has also repeatedly defamed Shaft, falsely communicating to her fiancé Kiara Kendrell Cephus (Offset), members of her entourage, and the public that ‘Shaft is robbing me,’ ” the lawsuit alleged. “Offset is responsible for steering Cardi B to QC to be managed in all of her entertainment endeavors.”
The ex-manager is now is seeking $10 million in damages from Cardi B, as well as $10 million from Quality Control for interfering with his management deal.
“Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image,” a rep for Shaft said in a statement to reporters. “While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint. Shaft is confident that his lawsuit will validate his conduct and substantiate his legal claims.”
Cardi B has yet to speak of the explosive lawsuit.
