April 16 2018, Updated 10:17 p.m. ET
Jeremy Geffen may not be a household name in the same way that his many clients are, but anyone who appreciates music and artistry would be amazed at how one man has been able to understand and facilitate so much greatness from some of the most recognized talents in Hollywood. One look into his life and you’ll find that Geffen has been and always will be a champion for new talent and some of the greatest icons in the music industry. As a talent manager and head of Geffen Management Group, Jeremy Geffen is the epitome of a Hollywood success story so much so that Jeremy took the time to share his expertise in driving success in the music business.
As a third-generation entertainment executive, Geffen's journey into the entertainment business was almost predestined. His early life was filled with the days in the recording studio when his mother, Jo-Ann Geffen, managed Lionel Richie and the Commodores during their earlier days as a group. With so much time spent around A-list talent, Jeremy was prepared to continue his family's legacy and enter the entertainment business himself. Although, his plan didn't always involve the entertainment business.
"I planned on being an investment banker until I worked in the mail room at Williams Morris one summer when I was in college, and that was it for me. I was hooked," he recalls.
It was at William Morris where he found the inspiration to continue his family's legacy and enter the management business. He would eventually find himself working with Johnny Wright and Wright Entertainment group, where he worked with talents such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

He then followed his time at Wright Entertainment Group working with Lindsay Scott Management, most noted for their work with Janet Jackson and Cher. In his time as a talent manager, Jeremy Geffen was able to work with notable acts that included: Metta World Peace (formerly known as Ron Artest), Christina Milian, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Sisqo from Dru Hill and more.
He eventually went solo and set up his very own company, Jeremy Geffen Entertainment, where he built an impressive roster that included Robin Gibb, Smokey Robinson, Bone Thugs n Harmony and Eminem's rap group, D-12. Before even hitting the age of 30, Geffen's continued success reached all new heights when he sold Geffen Entertainment JGE to Sanctuary Management—themselves a powerhouse in the management business with a roster of talent that included Guns n Roses, ZZ Top, Fleetwood Mac, Nelly, Elton John and the Queen B herself, Beyonce. It was evident that there was no slowing down for Geffen in his conquest of Hollywood.
EXCLUSIVE: From Talent Manager to Savior of Musical Legacies
Since leaving Sanctuary Management, Jeremy has presided over Geffen Management Group where he has continued to develop top talent such as Jacob Latimore, who currently stars in the Showtime series, The Chi, and the legendary Smokey Robinson. Clients such as Latimore and Robinson remind Geffen of the goals that he set out for himself when he first entered the business.

"I wanted to help talented people get the recognition they deserve and I am proud of clients like Jacob Latimore, who has achieved tremendous success at only 21 with a stellar career ahead of him," he notes. While he has been able to nurture the careers of rising stars and the like, Geffen doesn't let up.
"There is always more to achieve and I never want to be satisfied with what I've accomplished or I won't strive to do more," he says. That is one of the reasons I started Creative Rights Group to help songwriters receive the remuneration they deserve for their talent."
Preserving The Rights & Legacy of Artists
Since 2014, Jeremy Geffen has been the president and CEO of Creative Rights Group, a company he created with the mission to facilitate the recapture and/or monetization and marketing of songwriters’ and artists’ music assets to ensure their legacies.
With so much money being lost due to the decline of physical music sales, Geffen and Creative Rights Group's mission could not have come at a better time, and it has certainly found success in that past few years. Under his guidance, Creative Rights Group has sold music assets surpassing $100 million. Further transactions are projected to reach near $250 million by 2020.
In his years working as an entertainment manager, Jeremy Geffen has consistently given his all to ensure that every one of his clients are taken care of. Since his earliest days learning the business through his family ties and through his time working the mail room at William Morris, Geffen has shown that he has always had what it takes to cater to the needs of his exceptional clientele. Having already reached such great heights in a relatively short amount of time, Geffen still continues to enhance his position as a Hollywood super-manager through his various endeavors, as there are always more challenges ahead.
"All success comes down to hard work and tenacity. You have to find something you're great at and passionate about, pursue it and work as hard as possible to achieve your immediate goals and always have more challenges to conquer."
Through Geffen Management Group and Creative Rights Group, Geffen has the tools to aid entertainers both new and established. He will continue to help talented artists reach their dreams and he will make sure they are rightly compensated. When asked if there was one defining moment in his career, Geffen didn't point to one moment exactly, as each new deal he makes is as satisfying as the last one.
"There is not one defining moment. Each time my clients have success it is satisfying and each time I make a deal I want it to be bigger than the one before."
