According to a new toxicology report, John Heard was under the influence of powerful drugs Tramadol, Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Xanax, Buprenorphine, Fentanyl and Hydromorphone at the time of his death — but the prescription cocktail did not cause his sudden passing, RadarOnline.com can reveal.
The Santa Clara Medical Examiner's Office told RadarOnline.com that the Home Alone actor did not succumb to an accidental overdose.
"The cause of death was from a sudden cardiac arrest, and atherosclerotic and hypertensive disease," a spokesperson for the medical examiner's office told RadarOnline.com, adding that Heard was prescribed medication after a recent back surgery.
"He had surgery, so that's why drugs were found in his system."
RadarOnline.com previously spoke to Heard's ex-wife, Lana Pritchard, who said the actor could was in horrendous pain before the surgery.
"He was in so much pain from sciatica that he had problems walking and it really was getting him down," Pritchard said.
“I spoke with him on Tuesday before the surgery and he was in positive spirits but he did not want anyone to help him – I feel so bad because I think I could have done more."
Heard died at 71 in July 2017, just six months following the death of his 22-year-old son Max.
