Mohamed Hadid was sentenced for the criminal charges surrounding his Bel Air mansion fiasco on Thursday, July 20, 2017, with the judge handing down fines and community service as the punishment.

As O.J. Simpson was granted parole in Las Vegas, his former attorney Robert Shapiro appeared in a Los Angeles court on behalf of Hadid as the judge rendered his decision. Hadid was not present in court.

Bella and Gigi's dad was slapped with a fine totaling more than $3,000 -- a payment of more than $14,000 to the city to cover the Building and Safety Department’s costs, 200 hours of community service and three years probation.

Hadid pleaded “no contest” to the criminal charges over his 30,000 sq. ft. Strada Vecchia mansion that stands half-finished as the development stalled over charges that he was violating regulations.

Shapiro told the judge that the house would be completed and brought up to code standards within two years, but a city official estimated that the project would take three-and-a-half years. Prosecutors sought an unspecified amount of money to be placed in a fund should the construction not be completed on the mega-mansion.

Neighbors had argued for the home to be torn down and the property restored to the previous grades, but Hadid’s attorney insisted he was going to complete the construction. “That building is as safe a building as has ever been built,” Shapiro said outside the courthouse.

Hadid has stated in the past that he will not even consider tearing the house down.

“Demolish this house? Never,” he told Town & Country magazine. “This house will last forever. Bel Air will fall before this will.”
