Attorney's for Sumner Redstone’s ex-girlfriend, Manuela Herzer, have requested a judge order that the ailing billionaire undergo an independent mental exam as part of Herzner's defense against the elder abuse lawsuit Redstone filed against her in October 2016. This, according to court docs filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court and exclusively obtained by RadarOnline.com.
Redstone sued his two former female companions, Herzer and Sydney Holland, accusing them of manipulating and emotionally abusing him over the years. He filed a suit for elder abuse seeking to reclaim $150 million in gifts he gave them over the years, including jewelry, designer clothing and real estate around the world.
According to the original suit, Redstone's lawyer said by the time he threw them both out of his Los Angeles mansion, the women had taken over $150 million and left him in debt due to the immense tax obligations related to those "gifts."
In the court docs, Herzer’s legal team state that the 94-year-old's complaint against the women raises “numerous questions about Sumner Redstone’s mental health and capacity.”
“An independent medical examination would shed light on the existence, causes, severity and duration of any mental health issues,” Herzer’s lawyers state in their court papers. “If ordered by the court, the exam will be in Sumner Redstone’s home, on his timetable and at his convenience.”
A hearing on Herzer’s motion is scheduled July 20.
