Chrissy Metz revealed the hardships she faced regarding her family's financial issues, but how broke was she growing up? RadarOnline.com has obtained exclusive documents that reveal just how strapped for cash the This Is Us star's family was.

In court documents obtained from the Alachua County Court in Gainesville, Florida, Denise Hodge, who went by the last name Metz at the time, was busted for writing a worthless check.

SEE THE PROOF!

Hodge wrote the check for the amount of $50 on June 22, 1989 to pay for goods at Sears department store.

Metz' mother entered a plea of nolo contendere, where she accepted a conviction as though guilty.

She was sentenced to six months probation, 20 hours of community service, and ordered to pay restitution and court costs.

Metz opened up about her poverty-stricken upbringing in a recent interview.

"There were times I'd be nervous walking home from elementary school, thinking, 'If that red tag from the power company saying our lights are turned off is on the door handle, I don't know what I'll do,'" she told Glamour. "And there were nights my mom wouldn't eat dinner. She'd be like, 'Oh, I'm not hungry.' I knew she was giving up food to make sure we could eat, but when you're 9 or 10 years old, you can't help. It was devastating."

But her money troubles continued into adulthood when she refused to give up on her dream of becoming an actress.

"I kept auditioning, with no savings and no money, credit card debt gaining interest," she said. "I went on unemployment. I bought ramen noodles at dollar stores. I never had to—God forbid—live on the streets... When I booked This Is Us, I had 81 cents in my bank account."

As RadarOnline.com exclusively revealed, Metz's boyfriend Josh Stancil has money issues of his own.

Stancil has been hit with $64, 806.49 in tax liens. Clerks from the Ventura County Clerk and Recorder, and Los Angeles County Court confirm the liens remain outstanding.

Metz's co-star Justin Hartley also had money woes before his big break.

He was hit with a state tax lien for $17,419.99 in May 2010 for not paying his taxes in 2007.

In October 2004, his landlord sued him for residential unlawful detainer when he failed to pay $2,358.81 in rent.
