Kate Upton's engagement bliss has been overshadowed by a devastating family death. RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned the model's cousin was involved in a fiery car crash that some suspect might be suicide!
Upton's millionaire businessman cousin, Aubrey McClendon, was indicted on March 1st for conspiracy to rig bids on natural gas and oil leases in Oklahoma.
Only one day later, McClendon was involved in a fatal accident when he crashed into a concrete overpass wall in Oklahoma City.
"Kate is heartbroken," a source close to the model told Radar. "He was clearly having legal trouble, but nobody foresaw him doing what actually happened. He had vowed that he was going to fight the charges."
McClendon, 56, drove his car into the overpass at a speed of 78 miles per hour.
According to police, he wasn't wearing a seatbelt and had "plenty of opportunity… to correct and get back on the roadway and that didn't occur."
