The tension was palpable during Kelly Ripa's return to Live! With Kelly and Michael yesterday — even celebrity guest Bellamy Young thought so!

In a radio interview with Jenny McCarthy Tuesday afternoon, the Scandal star dished on the recent ABC drama, admitting that there was some obvious awkwardness going on backstage between Ripa and soon-to-be gone co-host Michael Strahan.

"There was tension, bless their hearts," she told McCarthy. "Backstage, there was some tension because it could have gone any way."

As RadarOnline.com extensively reported, co-host Kelly Ripa was furious with show executives when Strahan, 44, announced his plans to leave Live! after four years without informing her first.

When asked if the hosts spoke to one another before heading out on stage, Young said no, adding that no one knew how things would pan out once cameras started rolling.

"Once it got underway, it was beautiful," she shared. "Kelly gave a monologue and she got to clear the air."

"There was a tense part and then everybody went out and the show started and everyone remembered that we're grown ups and we have jobs. We do our jobs," Young added.

Unfortunately, there may be more drama ahead for the Live! team, as RadarOnline.com learned that Strahan will be leaving much sooner than expected — even as early as May 13!

And now that the former NFL star is officially out, staffers have officially paid allegiance to Team Kelly.

"No one is talking to Michael," a show insider told RadarOnline.com this morning about Strahan.
