July 20 2015, Updated 8:56 a.m. ET
Demi Moore said she's "in absolute shock" after learning that a 21-year-old man named Edenilson Steven Valle was found dead in the pool of her west Los Angeles home.
The 52-year-old said in a statement that she "was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news," calling Valle's death an "unthinkable tragedy.
"My heart goes out to this young man's family and friends."
Valle was missing for about 10 or 15 minutes until he was found by partygoers floating in the deep end of the water, according to Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. Fred Corral, who noted that the late man's family and friends said he was unable to swim.

Moore's assistant had held the party at her home, police said.
