Bethenny Frankel recently said that she thinks 75 percent of the Housewives have financial troubleand tried to downplay her own wealth but RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that before she was cast on the hit reality show she was in such dire financial straits that she only had $8,000 to her name.
The 42-year-old reality star is widely recognized as the most successful of all the Housewives, with best-selling books, her Skinnygirl drink empire that she sold for $100 million, and a new talk show but she was on the brink of financial ruin just before she started filming.
“Bethenny was so stressed out before she was on The Real Housewives of New York City ,” a source close to her revealed.
“She had done that reality show with Martha Stewart and had her Bethenny Bakes but she had nothing else lined up and she was panicked.”
The source said Bethenny was really counting on her career taking off after the Bravo show because she was struggling with money problems.
“Bethenny said she only had $8,000 to her name and she had to take the job on the show.”

Clearly the decision to be a part of the hit franchise paid off for Bethenny, but the source slammed her for mocking the financial problems of the other housewives.
“Bethenny was in the same boat as Teresa or anyone else a few years ago so she shouldn’t be calling out the other housewives. She’s being a hypocrite and forgetting where she came from.”
