The daughter of the late, great "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, Bindi, calls her father a "superhero" and says she's made it a life goal to pass on his legacy of love and exploration.

Bindi -- who was only 7 years old when her father tragically died in 2006 after being impaled by a sting ray barb -- told Australia's Brisbane Times she hopes "to carry on in her dad's footsteps, and make sure that his message lives on forever."

She said she'd "like to tackle bigger issues facing our world today," such as overpopulation.

Bindi, 14, called Steve, who was only 44 when he died, "the living, breathing superhero of my life," adding that everything she does is aimed to make her parents proud.

She said the affable Crocodile Hunter was the genuine article, on- and off-camera.

"What you saw on camera was what you got, and … he was the best dad ever, and for me, I want to make sure that his legacy never dies and I want to carry on in his footsteps," she said.

"After losing him, that doesn't go away … it's kind of like a piece of your heart that goes further."

Bindi said instead of wasting each day away in sadness over his premature death, she's "going to revel in the times we had together and celebrate his life."

She said her future plans revolve around acting, as she'd like to "take on bigger roles and see where that takes me."

How popular was Steve? More 360 million tuned in to Animal Planet to watch his memorial service Sept. 19, 2006.
