Liberty Ross filed for divorce after realizing she would never be able to forgive Rupert Sanders for cheating on her with his Snow White and the Huntsman leading actress Kristen Stewart, and RadarOnline.com has exclusive insight into what prompted the British model to finally pull the plug on their 10-year marriage.
Ross, 34, was haunted by the images of Rupert, 42, canoodling with Kristen, 22, which circulated around the world, a close source says, and even extensive marriage counseling couldn’t help the mom-of-two forget what her cheating spouse put her through.
Despite her very best efforts to keep things as happy as she could for their children, the source says Liberty finally came to the realization that she just couldn’t carry on any longer in a marriage with no trust and made the painful decision that she had to end their relationship.
“For the sake of her own happiness, she had to finally go through with the divorce,” the source tells Radar. “No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t forgive Rupert for cheating on her with Kristen – especially since it was something that caused such public embarrassment.
“The images of Rupert and Kristen together making out were out there for everyone to see. Liberty just couldn’t get those pictures out of her head.
“She truly tried everything, even counseling, because she was desperate to make it work for the sake of Skyla and Tennyson.
“But after months and months of painful soul searching she decided it was in the best interests to end her misery and make a fresh start."
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Liberty filed for divorce from Rupert last week.
The actress, who appeared in Snow White alongside Stewart, filed her petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, requesting joint custody of her two children with Sanders and spousal support. Sanders filed his response on the same day, also requesting joint custody.
