Who Will Survive The Zombie-Bashing When "The Walking Dead" Returns?
Oct. 12 2012, Published 12:10 p.m. ET
The new shows have begun, but fall TV is still missing one thing: zombies! Thankfully, the undead return in the third season of hugely popular horror series The Walking Dead. This time, Star magazine Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his ragged group of survivors think they've found the perfect safe haven: an abandoned prison. Once it's cleared of flesh-hungry walkers, that is.
Meanwhile Andrea (Laurie Holden), separated from the group, joins forces with Michonne (Danai Gurira), the katana-wielding badass who saved her life, and leads two armless, jawless pet zombies around on a chain!
Together, they end up in a small town called Woodbury that's seemingly untouched by the chaos. "It is the antithesis of everything Andrea has experienced since the apocalypse," Laurie tells Star. "It is a land of hope, where one can have a normal life — or so it appears."
Not being able to trust your fellow humans will be a major theme this season, but there will still be plenty of zombie-bashing — plus the strong chance that one of the main characters bites the dust. "It's always looming over our heads," Laurie laughs. "You don't know if they're going to make it to the end of an episode. That's what makes our show different. The main characters are not sacred!"
