Michael Lohan, appearing on The View Wednesday, said he’s getting along better with Lindsay these days, as their relationship is “a lot better than it was.
“I just saw her this weekend for Father’s Day.”
Appearing on the ABC chat fest, the controversial Hollywood father admitted he's gone over the top at times in his quest to save his wayward daughter.
"Now that Lindsay's been in jail and in and out of rehab, have you done anything to help Lindsay?" Sherri Shepherd asked Lohan.
"At times, I spoke out in the wrong ways and did the wrong things," Lohan, 51, told the panel. "I led by the wrong example."
Lohan said that he's learned plenty from his experiences with Dr. Drew in Celebrity Rehab, as well as family counseling sessions at the Betty Ford Clinic.
"I've learned now ... that I don't have to tell Lindsay what to do,” he said. “I can make suggestions, and advise her, but I'm not gonna tell her, 'Don't be around these people and don't be around them.'"
The Long Island native said he’s an investment banker by trade, but his heart “is in helping kids.
“It's about trying to reach as many people as you can."
Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked him if he regrets the numerous times he's opened up to the media about his 24-year-old daughter's struggles with addiction.

Michael said that most times, his blowouts with Lindsay were behind-the-scenes and he always kept mum; eventually, however, he thought the public exposure was the only option available to save his little girl.

"It came to the point where your kid's at death's doorstep, and you're getting your your ex-wife calling you, saying, 'Michael, we only have a week' or 'This might be the end' -- what do you do?!?"
Lohan said he didn't mind coming off unfavorably with the public in his attempts to save Lindsay.
"I had to sacrifice myself -- I'm the target now!”
He added that the rumor Lindsay was dropping her last name was “not true.”
Asked about the incident involving a necklace Lindsay was convicted of stealing, Michael said he believes and stands by his daughter when she says it was a misunderstanding.
Lohan said he’s currently appearing on Celebrity Rehab for co-dependency issues.
As for his daughter, the Mean Girls star is currently serving her 35-day house arrest sentence at her rented Venice beach townhome, and has also been ordered by an L.A. court to complete 480 hours of community service, expected to be divided between a women's center and a morgue.
