Matthew Perry: Going Away To ‘Focus On Sobriety’

Matthew Perry jokes his way into treatment.
The Friends star, who has struggled with substance abuse, is making plans to go away to “focus on my sobriety.”
Channeling Chandler Bing, his popular character on the hit TV show, the actor released a statement explaining his situation. "I’m making plans to go away for a month to focus on my sobriety and to continue my life in recovery. Please enjoy making fun of me on the world wide web.”

Perry has apparently not relapsed but planned the trip “as a proactive measure.” He has been in rehab twice previously for a prescription pill addiction, once in 1997 and again in 2001.
