VIDEO: Steven Tyler Says Snorting Sleeping Aid Cause Him To Fall Off Stage

New American Idol judge Steven Tyler told David Letterman that snorting Lunesta, a prescription sleeping aid, caused him to fall off the stage during an concert in South Dakota nearly two years ago.

Asked about the August 2009 incident on The Late Show Monday, Tyler said, "It's not any news here about my drug use and addictions in the past.

"A couple years ago, I was doing Lunesta because of some problems with my feet," Tyler said, before admitting he'd gotten to a point where he thought it'd be more effective if he snorted it instead.

"That shows you what kind of a drug addict I was... only the finest for me... I was looking for any excuse to get high."

"Not only any excuse, but any way," Letterman chimed in.

Tyler said he should have channeled his energy into his band, which he claims to be the best high of all.

"When the curtain goes up and there's 80,000 people out there, it’s the biggest rush in the world and I need to chase other things?” Tyler said. “Not anymore.”
