Kai Milla's clothing line had fans in Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Harper's Bazaar, but that wasn't enough to keep Stevie Wonder's wife in business in this tough economy, RadarOnline.com has learned.
After failing to pay vendors for several months, the designer has quietly shut her doors, the New York Post is reporting.
First Lady Michelle Obama really put Milla on the map when she wore one of her dresses in February, 2009 when Wonder received a Gershwin Prize and performed at the White House.
"The company has left many creditors coming after her to be paid for time, service and materials," the Post quotes a source as saying.
"Modeling agencies, production crews, design assistants, pattern makers, office and store landlords have all been trying to contact her offices in Los Angeles and New York."
