David Hasselhoff stunned commuters in Los Angeles on Thursday night when he appeared on a local freeway overpass frantically waving to traffic, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Hasselhoff, who was the first contestant to be eliminated from this season of Dancing With The Stars, stood over the 101 freeway, holding his arms up in the air and waving to the traffic below.

In an even more bizarre twist, country singer LeAnn Rimes happened to be driving on the 101 and saw the Baywatch star.

“Omg, David Hasselhoff is standing on a freeway overpass in LA waving to people,” Rimes posted on her Twitter account.

“Seriously!!! Can someone explain? Laughing so hard I’m crying right now.”

The Hoff confirmed it himself minutes later, tweeting back, “It was me on the overpass. I like to make people’s commute a little more fun! Give my love to Eddie.”

On Friday morning Hasselhoff proudly tweeted about his crazy night saying, “So what an exciting day! Lots of tweets, decided I was a pine tree and got spotted waving to traffic by the 101 by Lean Rimes.”
