Many thought the show’s crown would go to eventual second-place finisher Evancho, a 10-year-old whose maturity in defeat made her even more of a winner with the fans.
"This experience has been amazing," Evancho said following her elimination. "I have loved every single moment that I've been doing it, and I just really hope that I'll be able to sing for you guys again."
Rounding out the top four was Prince Poppycock in third, and dance group Fighting Gravity in fourth. Stars such as Jewel, Summer, Lionel Richie and Sarah Brightman performed duets with the contestants on the show's season finale.
