The father of Lindsay Lohan says that prescription drugs are to blame for his daughter's legal and personal troubles, RadarOnline.com is reporting exclusively.
"These drugs (prescription) are killing my daughter and killing millions of kids in America and someone has to stop it," Michael Lohan said in his first interview after Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
The exclusive interview was streamed live on RadarOnline.com.
Michael, who has struggled with his own addiction problems, said: "Lindsay needs to go into a rehab that takes you off prescription drugs not puts you on them."
The Mean Girls star was sentenced to 90 days in jail for her two previous DUI cases and a probation violation.
She also was ordered to 90 days in-patient treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.
Michael's attorney Lisa Bloom presented a letter to the court asking that Lindsay be sent to rehab rather than jail.

"This (jail) is the last thing I wanted for my daughter," he said.
When Lindsay was sentenced, she burst into tears.
Michael's eyes watered up when he talked about his daughter being sentenced.
"It crushed me. I broke down in court, like I am now," he told RadarOnline.com.
Michael seemed oddly united with his ex-wife Dina, defending her absence in court Tuesday.
He said, "Dina's taking care of my son Cody and my son Michael, there was only need for one of us to be here. She's just as worried and just as hurt as I am-she's Lindsay's mother."

Michael knows what Lindsay will be going through: in 1990, he was in jail for criminal contempt of court in connection with an insider trading case and spent time behind bars in 2005 for DUI.
"I could imagine how if felt when I went to jail," he told RadarOnline.com.
"My family was there I used to look through cell bars and see Dina walk way with Lindsay and Michael in a stroller and holding their hands in the snow."
