Cue the band! It's that time of year again, and RadarOnline.com has you covered on the final stretch in this season's American Idol singing showdown between 24-year-old Ohio native Crystal Bowersox and 24-year-old Illinois native Lee DeWyze.
RadarOnline.com's David Viggiano was front and center at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles Monday night, where both singer-songwriters made a brief appearance for the last time before Tuesday night’s big finale, discussing the prospects of playing their own material with all the marbles on the line.
Said Bowersox: "There are rules in the competition that we both have to follow and we both wanna be respectful of the game.
"Me and Bowersox both write and we've obviously talked," DeWyze said. "After this competition is over, I think that's the time to really start being your own artist and doing your thing. Right now, in the competition, there's a guideline and we're following it to the best of our abilities. And when this is all over, we 'll surely both want to write and do our originals."
Both singers will sing three songs on Tuesday's show, while Wednesday's season finale will include an performance by Christina Aguilera, and a farewell tribute planned for exiting judge Simon Cowell -- including a special return visit from former judge Paula Abdul.
American Idol airs on Fox this week Tuesday and Wednesday at 8/7c.
