VIDEO: Bret Michaels Confirms Heart Surgery This Fall; Talks Humble Beginnings

Celebrity Apprentice winner Bret Michaels told The Tonight's Show's Jay Leno that he is scheduled to undergo surgery this fall to repair a hole in his heart.

Michaels, no stranger to adversity, also talked about being homeless with his band mates when he first moved to Los Angeles from Pennsylvania.
"When we got out here we lived literally homeless -- part of us lived in a van and the other part lived in the back half of a dry cleaners in downtown LA.," the resilient rock star said.
Michaels was happy and in good spirits despite recent tough times health-wise, even joking with Leno he wouldn't die on his show following his April 21 hemorrhage (bleeding at the base of his brain stem) that left him in the hospital for two weeks.

While Michaels was told to rest for six weeks before getting back to work, he has continued making media appearances and plans on kicking off a 40-show tour in at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi on Friday, which is slated to run through October.

"I am not at 100 percent yet, but I have every intention of trying to continue the tour starting Friday in Biloxi," the rocker wrote on his Web site this week. "I hope to see your rockin rollin, smiling faces on the road — that is the best medicine I can think of right now. You rock my world."
